I contemplated changing my settings in Google webmaster tools but ive read a few posts where the change for geographic location had no effect or even negative effects, but that was awhile ago. I think it would be good for someone for example had a retail store in a specific town but if it was a web based business targeting many countries I wouldnt risk losing the search rankings.
